About Julie

In her mid-30s, Julie underwent a full hip replacement and struggled with arthritic knees. A few years later, following a hysterectomy, even simple movements became difficult and painful.

When she saw a local Pilates class advertised, she decided to give it a try — and was instantly hooked. Practising twice a week, she noticed positive changes in her strength, balance, and energy. Before long, she was back to enjoying swimming and horse riding again.

Pilates gave Julie her mobility back — but more importantly, it gave her confidence in her own body again.

A New Direction

Years later, life and work took over. By the time she reached 50, Julie found herself peri-menopausal, sitting behind a desk in an office job her body and mind both had begun to hate. Something had to change.

With the support of her family and friends, she made a bold decision — to retrain as a Body Control Pilates Teacher and start a new chapter helping others rediscover movement and self-care.

Square One Pilates was born.

“Pilates gave me my body back — and I want others to feel that same freedom.”

A Teaching Philosophy Built on Compassion

Julie’s approach is grounded in patience, encouragement, and progress at your own pace.
Her dream is simple, that no matter where someone is on their journey in life, she can help them reconnect with their body, rebuild strength, and move with freedom again.
